About Susanne
I studied communication design at Munich University of Applied Sciences from 1987 to '91.
My semester projects were mostly photography projects, but for my diploma thesis I wrote and drew a children's book and had my first daughter at the same time.
In the years that followed, I wrote and illustrated more than a hundred different books for almost all German children's book publishers. Many of the books were published all over Europe.
At the same time, I studied philosophy and ethnology for a few (unfortunately few) semesters and gave birth to two more wonderful daughters.
In 2004, I no longer wanted to ‘just’ sit at my desk, but finally wanted to follow my earlier dream and switched to photography.
Since then, I have produced many (photographed) non-fiction books, well over 1000 different portraits of well-known and unknown personalities, as well as countless reportages for publishers, agencies and large companies.
My heart still beats for everything to do with life, literally from birth to death.
My favorite clients are people who want to make the world a better place with kindness, warmth and dedication.
In 2017, 2020 and 2023 I was lucky enough to be selected as a semi-finalist of the Artbox Project with my art projects ‘Whaling’, ‘Cloudship’ and ‘Loved’ for the Amory Art Weeks in New York and for the Valid World Hall in Barcelona.
At the same time, I won the Silver Award for my birth photographs at the IAPBP (the worldwide association of birth photographers) as well as other awards (including 1st prize in the Portrait category of the Monochrome Awards).
In 2023/24 the press reported on my photo project ‘Granniegang’ throughout Germany.
ArtMUC Munich sponsored a special guest stand for me and the works were sold worldwide.
In 2025, I was once again allowed to be a special guest at ArtMUC (this time with illustrations), because fortunately people took my hand-drawn illustrations to their hearts just as much as the photographs.
That's why I've been writing and drawing two new children's books since the beginning of 2025.
